If you are registering a vehicle for your corporation or partnership in Ontario, you cannot use a personal driver's license. Instead, you need a Registrant Identification Number (RIN) from ServiceOntario.
What is an Ontario RIN?
The RIN is a unique identification number used by the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) for business entities. To obtain one, you must provide a notarized Statutory Declaration confirming your business's legitimacy and your authority to register vehicles.

- Director/Partner Authority: Statement confirming your right to act for the company.
The Mandatory Notary Requirement
A Statutory Declaration for a RIN is not valid unless it is witnessed and signed by a Notary Public or Commissioner of Oaths. The Notary verifies your identity and applies their official seal, which is required by the MTO.
